Hyatt Place Emeryville
I have family in the San Francisco Bay Area so I don’t get a lot of opportunities to stay in Hyatt hotels in this part of the world unless it’s for a specific reason.
A couple of weeks ago I made the long trip back home to attend the wedding of my best friend. The wedding was going to take place in the nearby Redwood Forest and the entire wedding party would be traveling from different places to stay at this Hyatt location. So, I decided to join them for practical reasons, and I don’t mind adding another night toward keeping my Hyatt Globalist status for another year.
I usually save my free nights and points for the more expensive hotels so I paid using cash (well my Hyatt credit card) for this 1-night stay.
Hyatt Place Emeryville Location
The area around this hotel feels more suburban than its proximity to Oakland feels. There are plenty of new restaurants to walk to and you can even get to a Trader Joe’s and Marshalls if that’s your thing.
Interestingly, there is a Hyatt House located only a block or two from this Hyatt Place but I didn’t get an opportunity to stay here this time. It must speak to the number of guests they brand feels they can support in this area. I did notice several airline staff and pilots checking into the hotel during my short stay so that could be one reason.
Nearby Roberts Regional Recreation Area, a great place to go for a leisurely stroll amongst the Redwoods.
Hyatt Place Emeryville Parking
The parking lot next to the building is relatively small, however there is a convenient multi-story garage nearby. The front desk staff are helpful and can easily direct you to this additional parking area as it’s just next door. Parking was included in my stay as a Globalist.
The Rooms at Hyatt Place Emeryville
I saw a few of the rooms since myself, the bride, and some other people in the wedding party were all at the hotel. My room was on the 5th floor and the bride was on the 6th floor, both just off the elevator. As a casual user of the Hyatt, this tier of hotel is a good option because you get a lot of inclusions as standard. The rooms are pretty much all the same with a sleeping area, long desk along the wall, and a sitting/lounge area closer to the entry that is set apart with a small screen that gives the illusion of having a different area of the room. I think it’s an affordable and reliable option.
Hyatt Place Emeryville Breakfast
For those early risers or anyone with a busy schedule, the breakfast service at Hyatt Place Emeryville starts at 6:30am. This might be different on the weekends as I was there on a Friday morning. That day they had sausage, eggs, roasted potatoes and warm tortillas in the hot food section. There were also fresh waffles made available which were actually quite good. There was also a cereal station, toast station and coffee area. This is all very standard for a Hyatt Place and included for everyone who stays there. Again, good value for those who are casual Hyatt users, not the greatest use of Globalist membership.
Fitness Area and Gym at Hyatt Place Emeryville
The gym is located on the first floor and has plenty of room to do your workout routine. While I missed having specific leg machines, the gym does offer cable machines, treadmills, elliptical machines, and stationary bikes. There is also a selection of free weights. I probably mention this every time I write about a hotel gym but there is a water dispenser where you can refill your water bottles.
Overall, my stay at the Hyatt Place Emeryville was perfect for the short stay and for acting as a meeting place during a special event for my friend. The hotel’s newness and sense of spaciousness of the lobby made it feel more premium than other Hyatt Place properties I’ve been to. With it’s proximity to Trader Joe’s and Marshalls, it’s also conveniently located for any last-minute shopping needs.
As a Hyatt Globalist, a Hyatt Place is not often the best use of your points or cash, but again, I needed to be in this specific location. I was very satisfied with my stay, nonetheless, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the location. Whether you’re in town for a special occasion, like I was, or simply exploring the surrounds, the Hyatt Place Emeryville is a comfortable and convenient choice.
