Park Hyatt Sydney: What to Expect

Nestled at the base of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Park Hyatt Sydney enjoys one of the best views of the city and especially the Opera House. I’ve stayed here a few times, always on points because the rooms on the higher end of the price range for Park Hyatt. Because the weather is nice year round in this part of the world, there is really no off season so there isn’t a time when it is more affordable.

As a Globalist, I’ve never been given a suite upgrade per se, but I’ve always been given a great view of the Sydney Opera House from my balcony.

What’s great about the Park Hyatt Sydney

The Location

Easily the best part of the hotel, not that the rest of it isn’t great it’s just that you always have your eyes on some of the most iconic structures in the world from the property. From the property, Circular Quay feels like it’s just in your backyard. It’s also within close walking distance to the Rocks area which has boutiques and cafes and markets on the weekend.

Dining

The cuisine at restaurant features refined, modern Australian cuisine and again you get a great view from the dining area. If you’re lucky, you’ll snag a seat near the window. This is also where they serve breakfast so you get to observe and marvel at this part of the city in the morning and with the twinkling city lights.

A few helpful tips before you stay at the Park Hyatt Sydney

·       I’ve written before that I usually reserve my Park Hyatt stays for the last part of my vacation when I sequester myself and regain my energy. This is the perfect hotel for that, particularly if you have a harbour view because you’ll see people coming and going and on occasion a cruise ship!

·       This was the first hotel that I stayed at that had heated toilet seats. It was disconcerting at first but then by the time I was ready to leave I wondered how I would ever do without them. I enjoyed having a tub and Le Labo amenities.

·       If you haven’t been to Sydney before, be sure to walk over to the main part of Circular Quay, grab some fish and chips and sit on Opera House steps and eat. Just beware of the seagulls.

Enjoying the sights and the fish and chips shop you should go to on your way to the Opera house, be sure to get a battered sav and a crab claw.

·       The Royal Botanic Gardens are just past the Opera House, a lovely place to get your steps in.

·       If you’re on one of the lower floors you’ll see morning exercisers just below your balcony, so it won’t feel as private as you might otherwise hope for at a luxury hotel.

Is there room service at the Park Hyatt Sydney?

There is in room dining at the Park Hyatt Sydney. Australian prices in general are expensive and there are so many great food options within walking distance that I don’t often order room service here.

Is there a Globalist breakfast at the Park Hyatt Sydney?

Yes, as a Globalist you will have access to the breakfast buffet. You get to choose a main item off the menu and then help yourself to the fruit, cereal, salads, charcuterie and other bites they have at the breakfast bar.

Points or pay?

I like to use points at this property. This is generally the case in any property in Australia. I believe a few years ago the category rating was raised to an 8 so it’s not eligible for a 5-7 category free night any longer.
